Start-Up-Capital: Initial Public Offering
The company was first listed on the Third Market (MTF – Multilateral Trading Systems since 1 November 2007) on 1 August 2007. Approximately 60 million shares or share certificates were subscribed at a price of EUR 10.00 per share or certificate, hence approximately EUR 600 million were realised on the market, providing the company with sufficient funds to pursue its projects.
The date for the IPO was deliberately chosen: as of 1 July 2007, energy markets in all EU member states have become fully liberalised, which will give additional momentum to the electricity and gas sectors.
Start-Up-Phase: Successful
The high number of investment opportunities emphasises the high potential of the market. Between its first listing in August 2007 and the end of March 2008, Meinl International Power developed and evaluated approximately 300 investment projects.
As a start-up company, Meinl International Power pursued the ambitious aim to conclude at least three projects in 2007. By the end of May 2008, the number had risen to nine projects and has thus exceeded its aim.
At the end of October 2007, the contracts for a gas power station in Hungary were signed, and by the end of 2007, the company had contracted its first wind farm project in Germany. At the beginning of 2008, the contracts for the first photovoltaic project in Spain and Italy were signed. In addition, Meinl International Power managed to secure the rights for the development of three wind power plants in Slovakia.
